Their products solve complex, real-world problems and are already being used by a growing customer base.With ambitious growth plans, they're looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to help build and scale the core platform behind their AI products. The RoleYou'll play a key role in designing and building the backend services that power modern AI applications. Working with Python and modern cloud technologies, you'll develop scalable APIs, data pipelines and AI integrations while helping shape the architecture of a rapidly growing platform.This is a hands-on engineering role with significant influence over technical decisions and product direction. What You'll Be DoingDesigning and building scalable backend APIs and services using Python.Developing AI-powered workflows, including retrieval, orchestration and LLM integrations.Building reliable asynchronous services for document processing and long-running workloads.Integrating with third-party platforms such as email and document management systems.Optimising performance, scalability and reliability across production systems.Ensuring secure handling of sensitive customer data. Essential ExperienceStrong commercial experience building production backend systems.Python and FastAPI.PostgreSQL and SQL.Redis and asynchronous processing.Experience designing scalable APIs and distributed systems.Exposure to AI-powered applications, LLMs or RAG architectures.Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.Comfortable working in a fast-moving product environment. Nice to HaveLangChain or LlamaIndex.Vector databases or RAG.WebSockets, Server-Sent Events (SSE) or SignalR.Microsoft Graph or email platform integrations.
