Assistant Director of Benefits
HR Mango is hiring for an Assistant Director, Benefits on behalf of a client. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced benefits professional with deep expertise in Workday, benefits administration, retirement plans, and leave management. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and hands-on leader who can optimize benefit programs, drive process improvements, and serve as a subject matter expert for Workday Benefits and Absence modules.Key ResponsibilitiesLead administration of health and welfare benefit programs, retirement plans, and leave management programs.Manage annual Open Enrollment, employee communications, enrollment processes, and benefit education initiatives.Serve as the Workday Benefits and Absence subject matter expert, including life events, enrollments, workflows, troubleshooting, reporting, and system optimization.Oversee administration of 401(k), cash balance plans, and other retirement programs.Manage employee leave programs and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance, HRIS, and external vendors to improve processes and employee experience.Analyze benefits data, prepare reports, and identify opportunities for process improvements.Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other applicable regulations.Provide leadership, coaching, and development to a team of benefits professionals.Support ongoing Workday enhancements and collaborate with HRIS on system improvements.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.5+ years of progressive benefits administration experience.Strong hands-on experience with Workday Benefits and/or Absence modules.Proven experience managing Open Enrollment and employee benefits programs.Extensive knowledge of retirement plans, including 401(k) and cash balance plans.Experience administering employee leave programs and related processes.Strong understanding of benefits compliance regulations including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and COBRA.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Preferred QualificationsLeadership or people management experience.Experience partnering with HRIS teams and benefits vendors.Healthcare industry experience preferred but not required.Experience supporting Workday implementations, enhancements, or optimization initiatives.What We're Looking ForWorkday power user with strong troubleshooting and process improvement capabilities.Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to think outside the box.Strong communicator who can educate and support employees while partnering effectively with stakeholders across the organization.Collaborative leader who enjoys improving systems, processes, and the overall employee experience.Compensation & BenefitsBase Salary: $130,000 – $140,00010% Annual Bonus$900 Annual Cell Phone AllowanceMonday–Friday ScheduleFull-time onsite for the first 90 days with a strong possibility of one remote day per week thereafter.If you have deep Workday expertise, strong retirement benefits knowledge, and a passion for creating exceptional employee experiences, we'd love to hear from you.Benefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceEmployee assistance programHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insurancePaid time offVision insuranceExperience:Workday: 3 years (Required)Benefits Enrollment: 3 years (Required)Lean management: 3 years (Required)401k: 3 years (Required)Cash Balance Plans: 3 years (Required)Workday Administrator: 3 years (Preferred)
