Job DescriptionJoin a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Senior Project Manager in the Renovation and Construction Department.The Senior Project Manager represents the Hospital Facilities Planning, Design, and Construction Department, providing Project Management services for the development, design, construction, completion, and activation of University of Chicago Medical Center projects.Essential Job Functions:Provide Project Management services for capital construction projects by managing cost, scope, schedule, resources, and risk. Candidate will develop and document the intended scope, identify associated costs and schedule based on that scope, and identify required internal and external resources required to deliver the scope. The candidate will identify risks to project delivery and develop mitigating strategies to avoid or minimize potential negative outcomes. Manage and report variance according to the developed planCandidate will provide on-site supervision of construction phases by chairing owner-architect-contractor progress meetings to ensure the project is completed in a manner consistent with the contract documents and intended scopeProvide oversight to all project delivery activities, including support during planning and activation phases. Manage a matrixed organization for successful project delivery. These include resources internal and external to the department within the Medical Center enterpriseDirect and manage resources external to the enterprise, such as contracted designers, builders, skilled trades, and other professional service providers or vendorsContinually monitor outside influences such as regulatory agencies, market, and technology changes that support or hinder the efficient accomplishment of department processes and proceduresProvide project controls by updating the ledger software to monitor invoices and expenses. Manage and update project schedules within the identified software. Develop project charters for scope identification and documentation. Manage and document project issues and risks. Provide change management by documenting alterations to the project plan and maintaining up-to-date change logsManage multiple projects simultaneously, understanding interdependencies and constrained resources. Phase projects accordingly to meet client needs as they affect direct patient carePerform other departmental duties as identified and assigned by senior managementRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree (Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management preferred) or an equivalent amount of education/experience in these fields would be considered in lieu of a specific degree in the design or construction industryA minimum of ten (fifteen preferred) years in the construction industry, providing significant project management experienceExperience in managing scope, schedule, cost, risk, and resources in a capital design and construction settingDemonstrated ability to provide project management phases of initiation, design, implementation, and project closing in a design and construction environment. Demonstrated ability to control the project while managing scope, schedule, cost, risk, and resourcesKnowledge of building codes, City of Chicago codes and regulations, and other regulatory compliance in the design and construction industryDemonstrated ability to manage several projects simultaneouslyDemonstrated ability for problem solving, critical thinking, independent work, technical and administrative skills, and computer literacy.Preferred Qualifications:Advanced degree in design or construction.Experience in healthcare settings strongly desired. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity.
