This role is responsible for producing and reviewing technical deliverables using digital design tools such as CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling while ensuring compliance with project standards, codes, and quality requirements. The position also supports team development through training, oversight, and coordination with internal groups and clients.Job DescriptionFunctions as a senior engineering technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisorApplies advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges within a specific engineering disciplineContributes to the development of innovative engineering solutionsUses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) with standardized procedures to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverablesProvides consultation, training, and oversight to other engineering technicians to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with project standardsEstablishes and communicates appropriate design and graphic standardsReviews project requirements to determine correct formats and deliverable contentPromotes quality and consistency across projects, groups, and sectionsReviews design inputs to ensure alignment and consistencyEnsures deliverables comply with applicable codes and standardsMay contribute to continuous improvement of design guides, standards, and processesMay participate and lead process improvement and change management activitiesManages drawing control and maintains historical project recordsApplies engineering principles and established design practices to complex designsExercises sound judgment in interpreting inputs and making deliverable-related decisionsHandles complex technical assignments and provides guidance to other professionalsPerforms design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and documentationMay review deliverables produced by others for quality and accuracyMay coordinate presentations, production design, and use of electronic design toolsMay monitor production to ensure consistency, budget, and scheduleMay program control systems or support plant start-up activities within area of expertiseCoordinates with other design groups to exchange information for design developmentMay support field activities as requiredCommunicates project design requirements, progress, and schedulesResponsible for assisting with identification of key client interests and drivers and may determine the key clients in some instances.Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns.Assist discipline or department management in developing and communicating appropriate design standards and process improvement activitiesIdentifies and supports training and development needs for supervised personnelRecognized for expertise in one or more areas. May be assigned special assignments depending on technical expertise.
