Accounts Payable Clerk

Job Summary The Accounts Payable Clerk plays a crucial role in managing the company's financial transactions by ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can maintain financial records, reconcile accounts, and support the overall financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of financial concepts, GAAP, and governmental accounting. Duties Process accounts payable transactions including vendor invoices, expense reports, and payment requests. Perform general ledger reconciliation to ensure accuracy in financial reporting. Prepare journal entries as necessary to maintain accurate financial records. Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies or issues that may arise during the accounts payable process. Collaborate with other departments, including human resources and accounts receivable, to resolve payment-related inquiries. Maintain organized records of all transactions in compliance with company policies and GAAP standards. Assist in month-end closing processes by providing necessary documentation and reports. Support audits by providing requested documentation related to accounts payable activities. Requirements Proven experience as an Accounts Payable Clerk or similar role. Strong understanding of financial concepts and principles, including GAAP and governmental accounting practices. Proficiency in accounting software; experience with ADP is a plus. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial reporting. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being able to work independently when required. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines. Familiarity with human resources processes as they relate to payroll and vendor payments is desirable. High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in accounting or finance is preferred.
