Varsity Head Cross Country Coach

Position Summary: Acts as the head coach for the Varsity Cross Country team. Provides activity supervision, training and coaching to student athletes as assigned. Actively works to ensure the fulfillment of team, department and school goals within their sport.Position Objective: Primary goal is to teach and promote the glorification of God through the pursuit of excellence in athletics. Additionally, charged to use leadership, supervisory and teaching skills to promote the development of the individual program and all student-athletes.Spiritual Requirements:Coram Deo Academy hires individuals that profess the historic Christian faith. As evidence of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in their lives, Coram Deo Academy expects all employees to be actively involved in a local church where their faith in practice is consistent with the Academy's mission and statement of faith.Essential Job Functions:Head CoachEnsure implementation and maintenance of standards and procedures as outlined in the CDA Coaching Manual and Athletic Culture GuideProcure game officials, facilities, AV equipment, and necessary seasonal equipmentProvide professional development to reporting coaches that will foster moral values, strong work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, leadership, and self-confidenceMaintain discipline and work to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and school communityInstruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team successProvide instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, strong work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, leadership, and self-confidenceMaintain discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and school communitySupervise practices, games, and team tripsUpdate knowledge of technical aspects of the assigned sport and willingness to continue to learn and examine new ideas pertinent to the assigned sport or coaching in generalSchedule all home and away games, tournaments, and overarching practice time slotsDemonstrate commitment to personal professional development regarding technical aspects of the assigned sportEnsure the maintenance of uniform/equipment inventoriesCollaborate with Campus Athletic Director and pertinent faculty/staff to accomplish assigned tasksEncourage and support athletic policies with parents and players to address issues or concernsUpdate Campus Athletic Director frequently during season about any issues, concerns, or highlightsQualifications:Ability to organize and supervise a sports program/teamPreferred previous coaching experience in assigned sportGood role modelExcellent verbal communications skillsDemonstrated leadership and facilitative skillsResonate with Coram Deo Academy's mission, vision, core values and goalsExhibit the giftings and desire necessary to coach in their designated sportPhysical Requirements and Work Environment:Works in a highly challenging environment dealing with a wide variety of deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.Works in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/ or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials weighing 20 to 50 pounds.
