Theatre Instructor

Under the direction of the Cultural & Fine Arts Supervisor, the Theatre Instructor plans, organizes, and teaches theatre classes, is responsible for creating class curriculum, demonstrates acting techniques, and assists with performances. DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSMaintain a safe, energetic, and motivational teaching atmosphereInstruct ages 5 and up in a variety of acting techniques including vocal projection, improv, and character buildingCreate progressive lesson plansStay updated on theatre trends and gamesHelp plan and teach pieces for performancesMaintain open communication with supervisor, families, and participantsOther duties as assigned by supervisor1-3 years of experience teaching children at beginning, intermediate, and advanced acting levelsAdequate knowledge of acting techniques, vocabulary, and directingAbility to create lesson plans and curriculumComfortable curating age-appropriate scenes and lesson materialsAbility to motivate and energize students of all skill levels and agesBackground or degree in Theatre, Drama, or Performing Arts highly encouraged, but not requiredJOB STATUS Part time DEPARTMENT Recreation FSLA STATUS Non-ExemptSALARY $16.00-$18.00 per hour
