TP Engineering Services offers opportunities to contribute to some of the most advanced laser and electro-optical systems in the world.Role DescriptionThe Electrical/Controls Engineer I/II is a full-time, on-site role located in Poway, CA. This role supports the design, implementation, and testing of electrical and control systems for advanced laser and electro-optic products. Day-to-day tasks include assisting in the development and installation of printed circuit boards, pulsed power, integrating process controls and scientific instruments, troubleshooting of electrical and control issues on prototypes and production units. The engineer will collaborate with senior engineers and technicians to conduct system-level testing, document designs and test results, and help ensure that systems meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements.QualificationsNecessary:Fundamental electrical engineering skills, including circuit analysis, wiring practices, and reading schematics. Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing electrical, controls, and system-level issues in complex hardware setups. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). Ability to work safely in a laboratory and production environment, following relevant procedures and standards.Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills, with attention to detail and willingness to learn.United States Citizen or Permanent Resident.Optional:Experience or coursework related to lasers, optics, or electro-optic systems.Process control and motion control skillsFamiliarity with PLCs (particularly Beckhoff PLCs) and Printed Circuit BoardsProgramming skills with Python, C++, Structured Text, or ReactJSBasic experience with CAD or ECAD tools for electrical design and documentation.Experience with 3D printing
