Retail Associate

General PurposeThe Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all customers in a courteous and friendly manner; treats fellow Associates with respect; follows all company best-practice standards; maintains a clean work area at all times; and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to be engaged in these tasks during all working hours and will be expected to perform a range of functions in all areas of the store as business needs require.Essential FunctionsPractices safe behaviors in all activities and maintains a safe, clutter-free sales floor with clear egress to emergency exits. Reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.Treats all customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times. Recognizes fellow Associates using company recognition programs.Assists customers at checkout, handles merchandise assistance, and answers customer questions politely and knowledgeably.Provides prompt responses to customer service calls and handles customer issues courteously, calling a member of Store Leadership when needed.Represents and supports the company brand at all times.Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas to maintain a safe environment.Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the company's dress code.Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery per company best practice to keep the store neat, clean, and organized.Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor with urgency, merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines, and maintains merchandise/brand familiarity within departments.Understands loss-prevention programs, shortage processes, and merchandise protection standards.Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguarding confidential information, cash, card data, and merchandise.Follows all mark-out-of-stock policies and cash handling procedures, maintaining accuracy when handling bankable tenders.Demonstrates a sense of urgency and maximizes productivity by executing store best practices while minimizing steps and touches in workflow.CompetenciesManages work processesBusiness acumenPlans, aligns & prioritizesBuilds talentCollaboratesLeading by exampleCommunicates effectivelyEnsures accountability & executionQualifications and Special SkillsEffectively communicate with customers, Associates, and store leadership in a friendly and respectful manner.Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.Physical Requirements / ADAUse all store equipment, including registers, PDAs, and PCs.Spend up to 100 % of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.Bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly and occasionally push, pull, or lift more than 25 lb.Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.Specific assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.Stockroom shifts: push, pull, and lift more than 20 lb regularly.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNone.DisclaimerThis job description is a summary of the primary duties and responsibilities of the role. The base pay range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location.
