Akkodis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a Contract role in Memphis, TN. The ideal candidate will support non-routine electro-mechanical design tasks, with a strong emphasis on mechanical packaging for power equipment, PCB assemblies, rack-mounted electronics, and enclosure design. This role requires advanced CAD proficiency and hands-on engineering capability.Rate Range: $40.00/hour to $ 50.00/hour ; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.Mechanical Engineer job responsibilities include:Assisting in electro-mechanical design from concept through production release, including assemblies of PCAs, magnetics, heat sinks, power semiconductors, interconnects, and enclosuresPerforming engineering computations, preparing specifications, and adjusting drawings as neededSupporting mechanical engineering analysis and verifying completed work for accuracy in dimensions, materials, and quantitiesCollaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize mechanical designs and processesConducting hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and providing production supportContributing to mechanical modeling, CAD designs, and packaging optimization for electronic assembliesDesired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field2-5 years of experience in electro-mechanical packaging and sheet-metal designExperience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), tolerance analysis, and documentation practicesKnowledge of fabrication processes including sheet-metal manufacturing, machining, plastics moldingFamiliarity with FEA/FEM for stress and thermal modeling; experience in thermal system design is a plusUnderstanding of materials, plating, corrosion prevention, airflow considerations, and liquid cooling (preferred)Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design Failure Analysis (DFA)Experience with environmental condition simulation (temperature, humidity, shock, vibration)Ability to read Gerber files and support electronic packaging requirementsIf you are interested in this role, then please click APPLY NOW.
