Substitute School Nurse

DESCRIPTION:The Substitute School Nurse provides health services and emergency care to students and staff in the absence of the regular school nurse. This position plays a key role in supporting student wellness and ensuring that all health-related needs are addressed promptly and effectively throughout the school day. Please note that this is an on-call position.OUR STUDENTS: Southeastern is a diverse, multicultural vocational technical high school, which serves over 1700 students. The students balance the rigors of a complete academic course of studies with technical skill training in over 20 career majors. Our students are prepared for college, career, and/or additional technical training.upon graduation.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:* Administer first aid and emergency care to students and staff according to established procedures.* Manage and dispense student medications as prescribed, following proper documentation and protocols.* Monitor and manage students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies), following individual healthcare plans.* Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records and daily logs of student visits and treatments.* Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, staff, and administrators regarding student health issues as needed.* Adhere to school policies and public health guidelines, including communicable disease prevention and control.* Collaborate with school staff to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all students.* Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all health-related matters.QUALIFICATIONS:* Required:* Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in MA* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).* Current CPR and First Aid certification.* Experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred.* Preferred:* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).* Previous experience in a school or community health setting.SKILLS REQUIRED:* Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced school environment.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.* Sensitivity to the health and developmental needs of children and adolescents.
