Lithium (Casting) Metallurgist-Process Engineer

Job DescriptionArconic is currently in search of a Lithium (Casting) Metallurgist-Process Engineer to join our Aluminum Extrusion (AEX) business unit in Lafayette, IN.At Arconic, we take pride in our work and our innovative products and technologies that advance sustainable solutions for a better world. We strive to create a safe, inclusive and collaborative workplace with competitive benefits, development opportunities and a culture that values and rewards employees on all levels of the organization.ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will: Apply statistical process control (SPC) for process variable monitoring to prevent drift Lead monthly scrap and recovery reviews combined with extrusion scrap data Disposition thermal deviations Write and review procedures and work instructions ensuring clarity and consistency ; reinforce and update E-Books on the floor Develop, monitor, and update thermal and casting practices Perform floor walks and layered process audits with safety and quality top of mind Track and ensure the success of qualification / process changes, particularly those for end use in Pratt & Whitney rotating parts Lead continuous process improvement efforts including but not limited to - tooling, raw materials, consumables, practice changes Surveillance of cast quality/billet slices and maintaining records in an organized fashion Surveillance of raw materials and technical support of quality critical supplier evaluations Collaborate with superintendents, supervisors, and operators to drive best practices across the lithium cast house Work with the maintenance department to ensure all equipment is capable of consistently producing metallurgically high-quality material Also Note Relocation assistance is available Travel less than 25% QualificationsBasic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering, materials science, ceramics, or chemical Engineering from an accredited institution 3 years of related experience This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R.730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Qualified candidate must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the relevant government agency. Business demands may require employer to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
