Job DescriptionJob Purpose:Responsible for instructing students in Middle School English. Creates lesson plans, administers praise and constructive criticism, instructs students in subject, and creates a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program. Administers informal and formal assessments.Responsibilities:Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning. Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. Serve on committees and assists in school or community functions. Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications & Education: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in appropriate major or course of study. Valid Teaching License.Preferred Qualifications & Education:Valid teaching license for grade level and subject area assigned. Meets requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher designation, if applicable to the teaching assignment. Bachelor's degree along with an Arkansas Teaching License or Certificate.Required Skills:Be able to collaborate with other teachers.Explain new concepts.Engage students in learning.Manage the classroom.Adapt lessons.Work with diverse backgrounds.Be a leader.Communicate and interact with parents, families, teachers, and studentsSolve problems that may ariseFacilitate social relationshipsServe as a role modelSupervise activitiesAttend seminars and meetingsDeliver instruction based on individual needsHave patience.Duties:Provides instruction based on state frameworks and standards.Prepares for assigned classes, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt and differentiate the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.Evaluates pupils' academic growth through teacher-made tests, standardized tests, checklists, observations, demonstrations, and other performance assessments; keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.Identifies pupil needs, makes appropriate referrals, and develops strategies to support students with individual education plans.Makes modifications for G/T, ELL, LD, physically impaired, at-risk, and other needs of individual students, including their learning styles.Creates a safe and orderly classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes during the instructional day and extended hours when necessary.Plans and coordinates the work of paraprofessionals, parents and volunteers.Attends and participates in faculty meetings and professional development activities.Collaborates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods; assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.Supports and participates in extracurricular activities, such as PTA/PTO, arts and cultural events, etc.Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to maintain a safe and orderly environment to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.Communicates regularly with various internal and external publics to develop and maintain a positive school/community relationship.Maintains confidentiality of student records.Other duties may be assigned.
