Locum Tenens Cardiothoracic Surgeon Near Sioux City, IA We are seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgeon for a locum tenens position near Sioux City, IA. This role involves 24-hour call coverage and inpatient rounds in a hospital setting. The position requires the ability to handle a variety of adult cardiothoracic procedures, as well as trauma cases. Position Details: Specialty: Cardiothoracic Surgery Location: Near Sioux City, IA Start Date: ASAP - Ongoing Shift Type: 24-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 AM On-Call Requirements: Yes, includes weekends Workload: 24-hour coverage with inpatient rounds, about 1 case per day with potential emergencies Hospital and Practice Setting: Hospital Size: 120+ beds with 24 ICU beds Trauma Level: Level 2 Trauma Center Emergency Room Volume: 30,000 annual visits (approximately 80 per day) Operating Rooms: 2 dedicated cardiovascular operating rooms with a specialized CVOR team Support Staff: Dedicated APP for inpatient management and clinic follow-ups, as well as a dedicated clinic nurse Patient Load: Clinic: 14 patients per day Hospital: 6 patients per day Average trauma cases: 10 per day Elective cases: 2 per day EMR System: Cerner Procedures and Skills Required: Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery: Coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) on pump Valve repair and replacement Maze procedures (including minimally invasive mini-maze) Ventricular aneurysmectomy General thoracic surgery Trauma cases Other Procedures: TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) performed on Wednesdays Trauma management Ventricular aneurysmectomy Supervision: Will supervise 1 PRN CT Surgery APP Requirements: Board Certification: Required in Cardiothoracic Surgery Iowa State License: Active or in progress DEA License: Required Experience: Strong experience in adult cardiothoracic procedures and trauma cases is essential Benefits: Full travel accommodations provided (including flights, lodging, and transportation) Opportunity to work independently in a highly skilled and well-supported environment This locum tenens opportunity provides a comprehensive and challenging role in cardiothoracic surgery, with a supportive team and state-of-the-art facilities.
