We are committed to remaining the industry leader by focusing on continuous growth and improvement in our 4 areas of focus: Materials/Railroad Services/Equipment/Terminal Services.Job Title: Inventory Specialist Scale House OperatorCompany: Omaha Track, Inc.Organization: OTELocation: Omaha, NE - WECO/Millard Rail YardSite Supervisor: WECO Yard ManagerManager: WECO Yard ManagerExempt Status: Non-ExemptPosition Status: Full-TimePosition DescriptionThe Inventory Specialist Scale House Operator is responsible for managing the inventory on site at the WECO/Millard Rail Yard.Major Areas of ResponsibilityComplete all scaling duties for inbound/outbound railcars and trucks in addition to scaling inventory in the yardCommunicate frequently with yard employees regarding inbound/outbound shipmentsMaintain accurate inventory records and transactions for all materials stored/processed at the yardMaintain accurate records for all railcars located in the yard, including tracking car switchingCalculate piece count/quantity for sales orders and maintain the balance to be shippedPrepare and submit all necessary reporting and paperwork to the corporate office, including: railcar status reports, inbound/outbound shipment logs, material code change forms, etc.Proactively manage and be prepared for anticipated incoming material and railcarsSubmit all safety briefing reports to Safety on behalf of the yardAdministrative duties for the yard including answering and handling incoming phone calls appropriately, managing/ordering supplies, and maintaining a clean, well-organized work environmentCoordinate daily priorities and work flow with the WECO Yard ManagerFirst point of contact for visitor and handles any customer inquiriesMinimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate's degree in business or equivalent work experience (2 - 3 years) requiredPrevious experience in the railroad industry or tracking inventory is a plusExcellent written and verbal communication skills requiredIntermediate level skills in MS Outlook and MS ExcelDemonstrated initiative to proactively seek out work, complete tasks, and follow-up on outstanding itemsDemonstrated ability to think critically and prioritize tasks appropriatelyWork Requirements Dependable and consistent attendance/punctualityAbility to work outdoors in a rail yard environment subject to all elements and conditions as neededAbility to lift/carry up to 15 - 50lbsAbility to meet all functional requirements including, but not limited to: sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, bending, squatting, finger dexterity, and reaching above/below shouldersPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
