About The RoleJoin Valmet’s team of experts as an Engineer in our Wood Handling Engineering team. At Valmet, we bring together top talent to deliver world-class solutions that support our customers’ success.We are seeking a technically minded and motivated individual to support engineering and shop-related projects. This role focuses on machine design and drafting activities, primarily supporting spare parts and shop engineering needs. You will collaborate closely with shop floor personnel, engineering, sales, field service, and spare parts teams to deliver efficient and high-quality solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport engineering activities with a strong focus on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and equipment designExecute shop-related engineering tasks, including machine design and spare parts supportCreate and modify drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks in a production environment while meeting deadlinesImprove efficiency by adopting and enhancing engineering tools and processesCoordinate and collaborate with engineering and technology teams to support project executionAssist with customer and internal presentations, including design scope and troubleshooting supportProvide technical support for field measurements and site activitiesEnsure compliance with federal, state, and internal engineering standards and policiesTravel to customer sites (20–30%) for installation support, troubleshooting, and data collectionQualificationsBachelor’s degree in mechanical or Machine Engineering3–5 years of experience in design, layout, or 3D modeling rolesStrong working knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks for production drawingsExperience in the Pulp & Paper industry preferred, particularly with wood handling equipment such as: Debarking drums, Chippers, Feed conveyors (drag and belt types)Experience in machine shop-related engineering is a plusWhy Valmet?At Valmet, you will work in a collaborative environment focused on innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
