Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Associate Lab Director, Gene Editing & Screening Core Facility Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is seeking an accomplished and innovativeAssociate Lab Directorto join theGene Editing & Screening (GES) Core Facilitywithin a highly interactive basic and translational research community! MSK offers an exceptional scientific environment within a multiinstitutional academic ecosystem, where pioneering technologies directly support discovery and patientfocused cancer research. In this role, the Associate Lab Director will partner closely with the Core Facility Director to advance functional genomics, highthroughput screening (HTS), and highcontent screening (HCS) capabilities in support of MSK investigators. Role Overview:As Associate Lab Director, you will balance scientific leadership with operational and financial oversight to ensure the GES Core Facility remains a pioneering, sustainable resource for MSK investigators. Partner with the Core Facility Director to define short, medium, and longterm scientific strategy aligned with MSK research priorities Lead and support functional genomics initiatives, including CRISPR and RNAibased screening platforms Oversee development and optimization of advanced methods, assays, and screening technologies (HTS/HCS; live and fixed cell imaging) Provide scientific consultation to investigators and liaise with the broader scientific community Lead daytoday operations, including workflow optimization, resource allocation, and service delivery Ensure financial stewardship by developing and leading budgets and meeting operational financial goals Lead hiring, training, mentoring, and career development of scientific staff Champion a culture of mentorship, performance excellence, and continuous improvement Represent MSK at external conferences and NCI/NIHsponsored meetings Key Qualifications:Ph.D. in Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a related discipline 5+ years of experience in academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology settings Deep expertise in CRISPR and RNAi technologies and their application to drug discovery and development Demonstrated experience with gene perturbation strategies, KI/KO cell line generation, viral production, and assay development Handson knowledge of chemical compound libraries, automated liquid handling, plate readers, and highspeed confocal imaging systems Experience developing and leading budgets in partnership with internal stakeholders Consistent record leading laboratory staff and overseeing complex laboratory operations Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Core Skills:Strong multitasking, prioritization, and planning skills in a fastpaced research environment Strategic thinker who stays current with emerging technologies and field advancements Collaborative leader who builds strong relationships across teams and disciplines Passionate mentor committed to staff development and scientific growth Effective, adaptable communicator across diverse audiences and settings Resultsoriented with the ability to perform under challenging conditions Precise and decisive bench scientist with strong problem-solving skills Flexible and agile, able to pivot quickly as scientific or operational needs evolve Additional Information:Schedule:Monday - Friday 37.5 hrs, Onsite (may have the flexibility to work remotely once a week) Location:417 E. 68th Street, NYC Reporting to:Core Director Helpful Links:Compensation Philosophy Benefits Pay Range: $137,500.00 - $227,000.00 FSLA Status: ExemptClosing : At MSK, we believe in fair, competitive pay that reflects your job, experience, and skills.
