JOB DESCRIPTION
The Sort Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient, accurate, and timely sorting of packages within a last mile logistics facility. This position is responsible for supervising sort operations, leading a team of sorters and material handlers, and ensuring compliance with safety, productivity, and quality standards. The Sort Supervisor supports the daily execution of operational goals and contributes to the overall success of the hub.
Shift schedule: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday 2:30pm - 11pm
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise day-to-day hub sort operations to ensure timely and accurate processing of inbound and outbound packages
Monitor and meet daily KPIs for production, efficiency, cost control, and accuracy
Ensure proper sortation and scanning of packages according to route, destination, or customer specifications
Assign work, provide guidance, and oversee the performance of sorters, material handlers, and temporary labor
Enforce safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe working environment
Perform quality checks to minimize misloads, damages, and misrouted packages
Collaborate with Dispatch, Warehouse, and Driver teams to ensure smooth package flow and route readiness
Train new hires and provide ongoing coaching to improve performance and productivity
Troubleshoot equipment issues or operational bottlenecks and escalate as needed
Generate and maintain accurate reports on volume, labor, and operational performance metrics
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree a plus
2+ years of experience in logistics, warehouse, or distribution environment; 1+ year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred
Strong understanding of package sortation processes and logistics operations
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Proficient with warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite
