Description Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, islooking for a Purchasing Manager in our Turners Falls, MA office. Thisposition is responsible for the management of raw materials, supplies,and participation in capital expenditure procurement requirements of thecompany including: supplier negotiations, development and execution ofsupplier agreements, maintaining of stock levels within companyobjectives, supplier problem resolution, record maintenance, supervisingof staff and other similar duties necessary to achieve purchasingrequirements and company objectives. Hiring Range: \$81,275.50 -\$111,754.21/per year Exempt Job Duties and Responsibilities Establishand approve sources of raw materials and supplies; receive quotationsand secure bids; makes purchases while controlling prices and qualityfrom approved suppliers. Develop and execute plans for all supplieragreements. Recommend and assign to purchasing team members majorpurchases of materials based on anticipated price changes, availabilityand lead times. Coordinate and negotiate cost reductions with supplierbase. Negotiate major supplier contracts and present for approval.Interface with suppliers and lead improvement efforts in areas ofquality, delivery and cost. Develop supplier partnering initiatives tominimize supplier base while improving service and cost. Ensure that allpurchasing and material sales documents are properly completed,maintained and the terms and conditions of purchases and selling areappropriate. Maintain, control and direct adequate stock levels andcurrent inventory status on all assigned items. Make certain thatdepartment records are maintained and that purchases and material salesare followed up and/or expedited when required. Review and processclaims against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials, supplies orequipment. Evaluate suppliers and provide expectations to suppliers.Work with suppliers to improve performance issues. Coordinate purchasingwith Sales, Production and Engineering, providing information whichdirectly affects quoting and delivery of product. Work with suppliers tosource materials, substitute materials, etc., that may improve costs,performance, etc. Keep abreast of trends and significant events in areasof responsibilities. Bring to attention of senior managers, minimizingthose situations potentially affecting company operations; makerecommendations as to alternatives. Responsible for procurement andsales transfers to parent company. Perform export function and includingselling some raw materials to suppliers primarily for use in ourproducts purchased from suppliers. Maintain documentation. Train,instruct, and assign work to staff and ensure company policies andprocedures are followed. Establish standards of performance; monitor andevaluate performance. Confer with supervisor, HR, and make effectiverecommendations concerning personnel matters affecting staff. Performother related duties as responsibilities necessitate or as assigned bysupervisor. Qualifications Bachelor?s Degree with a focus in BusinessAdministration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.5-10 years of progressive experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, orProcurement. 2+ years of supervisory experience. Experience inmanufacturing environment a plus. Strong oral & written communicationskills and interpersonal skills. Excellent attention to detail includinganalytical thought processes. Ability to multitask in a fast paceenvironment with rapidly changing priorities. Data-driven decision andProblem-solving Skills.
