Accession samples in the client services area of the SafeTrace Blood Bank Software and centrifuge, de-cap and sort samples to prepare for infectious disease testing.QualificationsRequires a high school diploma or equivalent with some college experience strongly desiredExperience working in a medical laboratory is preferredPrimary ResponsibilitiesFollow appropriate Standard Operating ProceduresAccession all Donor, Non-Donor, and Client samples in the SafeTrace systemLabel donor, non-donor, and client samples according to SOPInspect all donor, non-donor, and client samples to determine if they meet testing acceptability requirementsSort and route donor samples to the appropriate locationSort, file and route non-donor samples and test request forms to the appropriate locationSort and route client samples to the appropriate locationCentrifuge, de-cap and sort samples for testingPerform Maintenance on centrifugesKeep work area clean and organizedLocate specimens which require further testingScan samples into program for archivingDiscard samples as requiredCommunicate all accessioning issues to the Supervisor/Lead/Laboratory TechnicianAssist the Supervisor/Lead/Laboratory Technician investigating and resolving accessioning issuesServe as a client service representative for the Testing LabInform Clients/OBI of any testing issuesAddress all Rees (Central Monitoring System) alarms appropriately.Prepare supplies/barcodes and ship to ClientsAnswer telephoneInspect reagents and supplies that are received in the testing laboratory Label reagents and supplies with date received and statusStore reagents and supplies in the appropriate locationBe available to work hours according to draw/clients and rotate weekends/holidaysPerform additional duties as needed
