Capital Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced Capital Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of a major capital expansion project involving the installation of multiple new packaging lines within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
This is a high-visibility role supporting pharmaceutical secondary and tertiary packaging operations for final drug products. The Project Manager will act as the primary liaison between engineering, operations, quality, vendors, contractors, and site leadership to ensure successful project execution from initiation through turnover to GMP manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate will possess strong project management expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex workstreams while driving accountability and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end project management activities for installation of multiple packaging lines from project initiation through commissioning, turnover, and closeout
Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project and Smartsheet
Drive cross-functional project meetings, track action items, and ensure stakeholder accountability
Manage project scope, budget, schedule, risks, and deliverables across construction, equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, qualification, and operational readiness activities
Serve as the primary point of contact between vendors, contractors, engineering, operations, quality, and leadership teams
Identify project risks proactively and implement mitigation strategies
Ensure compliance with FDA, GMP, and site standards throughout all phases of project execution
Coordinate resources and schedules across internal teams and external partners
Maintain accurate project documentation including status reports, meeting minutes, risk logs, decision logs, and change controls
Provide regular project updates, executive summaries, and escalation reports to site leadership
Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and effective communication
Preferred Qualifications
10–15 years of Project Management experience within pharmaceutical manufacturing environments
Strong experience managing capital equipment installations, packaging line builds, or facility expansion projects
Pharmaceutical industry experience is required
Experience working within FDA/GMP regulated manufacturing environments
Knowledge of packaging operations, manufacturing processes, and production equipment preferred
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Project required
Experience with Smartsheet preferred
Proven experience managing budgets, tracking project spend, and reporting financial status
Experience managing vendors, contractors, and third-party resources
Familiarity with commissioning, qualification (C&Q), and equipment validation processes is a plus
PMP Certification preferred but not required
Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
Must be comfortable working onsite in Columbus, Ohio
