Transportation Driver Gate Coordinator
Job DescriptionJob Summary: As a Gate Coordinator, you'll perform operational duties that help improve trailer cycle time, enhance awareness of our trailer / fleet movements, and ensure yard management system data accuracy.Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:Uses internal yard management systems to record / monitor arrival and departure traffic (i.e. YMS, TMS, Mainframe CICS, Tumdock, etc.)Communicates with Transportation and Warehouse operators (Yard Supervisors, Delivery Ops Partners, Warehouse Clerks) to: validate and prioritize purchase orders, resolve conflicting appointments, and notify them of early, late, or no appointment arrivalsRecords external driver information at arrival (license number, phone number, carrier name, etc.)Directs internal and external drivers to appropriate Warehouse; schedules on-the-spot appointments, as neededIdentifies type of activity / workflow (live or drop delivery, bobtail pickup, etc.); applies appropriate processLooks up and validates shipment / purchase order in EXE / HOSTExpedites departures after unloading, if needed, to ensure efficient operations flowConfirms and validates Warehouse comments on departing trailersApplies knowledge and experience to resolve conflicts and solve problemsTroubleshoots and resolves or escalates issues, including managing exceptions, deliveries not recommended for dock door, non-system departures, etc.Monitors and ensures quality and accuracy of system data entry (YMS and other internal systems); may recommend system and process improvements; supports standardization of instructions and processesRuns reports in EXE, YMS, TMS (SCI Report), etc.Communicates and clarifies procedures for drivers / operators; identifies safety, regulatory, and process issuesAssists with terminal / yard-wide operational duties, as neededIdentifies and notifies Security of suspicious activities; documents process exceptions and irregularities (property / equipment damage, theft, etc.); coordinates with Loss Prevention & Security, as needed, on security-related issuesMay coach new Partners and Security Guards on proper arrival / departure procedures and policiesThe responsibilities and essential functions outlined above describe the general nature and level of work assigned to this position.
