Education Assistant

Job Title: Education Assistant and Resident Monitor Department: J Bar J Boys Ranch Vocational School Location: Bend, Oregon Schedule: Full-Time, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (schedule may vary) Position Overview: J Bar J Boys Ranch is seeking a dedicated and experienced Education Assistant and Resident Monitor (EA/RM) to support our year-round vocational school program. This position works closely with the Vocational School Teacher and Program Manager to provide hands-on instruction and supervision to students. The EA/RM plays a key role in fostering a safe, productive learning environment while also ensuring the security and well-being of residents. The ideal candidate will have experience in the trades or vocational studies and be passionate about guiding youth towards academic and personal success. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with school staff to supervise and maintain a safe classroom environment. Assist the teacher with daily instruction, assessments, and student performance evaluations. Build relationships with community partners to enhance vocational program opportunities. Provide continuous, direct supervision of residents, ensuring safety and accountability. Oversee daily routines, model positive behaviors, and promote students’ strengths. Engage with students in and out of the classroom to foster personal and academic growth. Document student behaviors and progress, and report concerns as needed. Conduct resident searches and assist with crisis management using CPI interventions. Participate in meal preparation, transportation, and general supervision tasks. Qualifications: Experience in the trades or vocational studies is required. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations in both group and individual settings. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a flexible, team-oriented attitude. Knowledge of middle and high school academic subjects. Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational software. Ability to engage with youth in a structured, positive manner, and support their treatment goals. Why Join Us?
