Mental Health Therapist

At Next Step Counseling & Neuropsychology (NSCN), we believe that excellent clinical care for clients and a healthy work environment for clinicians should be together. Our collaborative mental health practice provides supportive therapy and evidence-based treatment using a strengths-based perspective. We work with individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, learning differences, trauma, and life transitions. Because we also offer in-house neuropsychological assessment, our clinicians benefit from the ability to refer to and collaborate with assessment services, allowing for a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of client needs. Our Approach Next Step was founded with the belief that mental health work should be both meaningful and sustainable for clinicians. Many people enter this field because they care deeply about helping others, yet too often the systems clinicians work in push them toward burnout. Our goal is to build a practice that does things differently. We are seeking clinicians who: Are committed to providing high-quality clinical care Care deeply about their clients and the work they do Value collaboration and ongoing professional growth Want to be part of a small, thoughtful team environment Are interested in helping shape a practice as it grows Our Practice Culture NSCN is intentionally a small group practice where people know and support one another. We aim to create an environment where clinicians can collaborate, ask questions, and learn from colleagues without feeling isolated. We offer an in-person office space, but clinicians who prefer to provide telehealth-only services are also welcome. Regardless of modality, we work to keep all clinicians connected to the team and supported in their work. We expect our clinicians to care deeply about their clients and their work. At the same time, we believe that good therapists need the space and support to remain functional humans outside of their clinical roles. Joining the Team – Building a Place to Grow For early-career clinicians, NSCN can be a training environment that helps develop excellent therapists. We value mentorship, supervision, and the development of strong clinical skills. For experienced clinicians, the practice can serve as a long-term professional home where you can focus on meaningful clinical work without feeling like a cog in a large system. Because we are continuing to build and grow the practice, our systems, benefits, and opportunities will evolve over time. We are committed to improving the ways we support our clinicians as the organization grows. Current benefits include: Health insurance Dental insurance Paid vacation, holidays, and sick time Standard fee-for-service compensation plus caseload incentive bonuses While we recognize these benefits are not yet a gold standard, our goal is to build a practice together that meaningfully supports the people who work here. Whether you are early in your clinical career or an experienced therapist, we welcome clinicians who want to build something meaningful with us. Caseload Expectations & Compensation Clinicians at NSCN with steady caseloads typically earn approximately $85,000–$110,000+ annually, depending on session mix and caseload size. Full-time clinicians maintain a minimum caseload of 28 sessions per week, with many choosing to see 30–35 sessions depending on schedule preferences. Our goal is to support high-quality care while avoiding burnout. Compensation follows a fee-for-service model with incentives for sessions above the baseline. Base session rates (first 28 sessions/week): $60 per session for CPT 90837 Sessions above 28 are paid as a percentage of insurance reimbursement: 61% of insurance reimbursement - 28–30 sessions/week 65% of insurance reimbursement - 30–35 sessions/week: 68% of insurance reimbursement - 35+ sessions/week Because NSCN offers in-house neuropsychological assessment, clinicians also benefit from internal referrals and coordinated care.
