The Spear Group Full-Time Opportunity with Corporate BenefitsPosition: Capital Project Manager / Engineer – Large Pharma Manufacturing Greenfield ProjectLocation: Raleigh / Durham , North Carolina Immediate AreaPosition Summary:The Spear Group has an exciting career opportunity for an experienced and knowledgeable Pharma Manufacturing Facility Capital Project Manager with previous pharma Project Management experience owning high dollar value projects or parts of a large capital project (80million plus – greenfield or major brownfield reno).The ideal Project Manager candidate will be a mechanical engineer or chemical engineer with project experience supporting the pharma processing construction areas involving HVAC & Utilities and/or Processing facility ops & equipment project experience, end to end. The ideal candidate is required to have experience with lean project and construction approaches.This Project Manager position supports Senior Owner Managers and Program Director for this 2-billion-dollar greenfield project as the project heads into construction phases inclusive of managing the initial activities involving HVAC and utilities execution/delivery for processing space. Project management responsibilities include the coordination and completion of projects on time within budget and within scope. Oversee all aspects of project. Set deadlines, assign responsibilities and monitor and summarize progress of project. The primary responsibility of the Capital Project Manager is to oversee the execution of the planned pharma greenfield project in accordance with the established project attributes on time, within budget, and to agreed specifications to satisfy project requirements and goals. The Capital Project Manager will serve as the primary contact interaction between the Owner Team, the Design Firm, and all key Contractors from front-end design adherence efforts through to the completion of construction, installation, and qualification phase of the project.Monitor and review project budgets, scope and exclusions, schedules and deliverables, and staffing requirements with the project; Establish appropriate metrics for measuring key project criteria and progress.Understand Lean Construction methodologies (TAKT, pull planning, modular construction)Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.Provide clear identification of project attributes, progress, and risks to Owner / StakeholdersAssist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical and compliant feasibility.Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures.Ensure resource availability and allocation.Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress.Provide the progressive ability, capacity, and aptitude in administration to plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate technical work and to obtain cooperation from other members of the site project team.Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.Report and escalate to Senior Project Management as needed.Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.Perform risk management to minimize project risks.Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.Meet with Owner to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project.Hire new talent as needed to fulfill Owner needs.Delegate project tasks based on team members’ individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels.Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.Meet budgetary objectives and make project constraints based on financial analysis.Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with Owner and CAPEX delivery team.Use and continually develop leadership skills.Perform other related duties as assigned.Develop spreadsheets, dashboards, diagrams and process maps to document project actoivities.Possible design, quality, GMP, and QA reviews to ensure compliance to Owner / Stakeholder standardsClearly communicate project status, progress, and concerns to the project leadership and OwnerReview compliance aspects of the facility design against global regulatory standards to support project construction, commissioning, and qualification activitiesMaintain open items and potential change logs.Review monthly project progress reporting prior to issue to Owner / Stakeholders / Project LeadershipSupport the development of internal project compliance documents as requestedAttend key Vendor and Contractor inspection events as requested to represent OwnerSupport Owner and Project Leadership Team in review of Construction Management and Commissioning/Qualification planning and execution as deemed necessaryEstablish and maintain effective relationships with capital project support areas for Owner requirements for the capital project and engage their assistance in project execution. These Owner areas for project support Operations, Quality, HSE (Health, Safety & Environment), Process & Plant Safety, Site Engineering & Maintenance (Process, Mechanical and PCS), Plant Administration and Planning, Purchasing, Accounting, as well as Regulatory Affairs Departments, if applicable. Required Experience and Education:Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, preferably mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or related engineering discipline for pharm manufacturing facility project executionProven working experience in project management supporting large pharma manufacturing facility capital projects successfully4 – 25+ years of large or mega pharma capital project – Project Manager experience Excellent project organization skills, project tracking skills, and project tracking tools proficiencyExperience preparing and executing pharma Capital Projects in accordance with Owner vision, mission, commitment, and goals. Includes having experience with the selection of engineering, procurement and construction approaches, selection and management of potential vendors and contractors, previous experience evaluating bids and approval of project resources and approaches, if applicable.Experience providing project management with updated analysis and projections on the status of capital projects focusing on management of change, schedule compliance, cost control and major project risks.Experience with developing project execution strategy and stage reporting while actively managing risk reduction. Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.Strong working knowledge of MS365 inclusive of Project and PowerPoint MUST HAVE LEAN CONSTRUCTION project management experience i.e. pull planning.
