There is a strong commitment to ensuring patients receive coordinated and comprehensive experience at all locations, guaranteeing that each patient has access to the appropriate level of care throughout the system's delivery sites.We are seeking a 40-hour, Nocturnist Physician Assistant to support our Inpatient Orthopedics team. Weekly schedules consist of (3) 13-hour shifts from 6:30PM-7:30AM. We are located on the NWH Main Campus at 2014 Washington Street, Newton, 02462.In this role, Physician Assistants provide coverage in the Emergency Department, on the inpatient floor, perform inpatient surgical consults, and potentially evening OR coverage. Providers practice autonomously at the top of their licensure and are responsible for:Presenting and discussing patient evaluations with Attending Surgeons to develop appropriate treatment plansOrdering diagnostic tests and interpreting resultsPerforming diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including but not limited to:o Wound careo Tube and drain insertion, care, and removalo Suturing and suture removalo Splint, brace, and cast application and removalo Medication administration (including IV push medications and steroid/anesthetic injections)o Central venous line removalo ElectrocardiogramsConducting daily patient roundsParticipating in discharge planning and completing discharge summaries.Educating and counseling patients and familiesOrienting medical students, physician assistant students, and surgical residents to the clinical environment, patient care practices, and hospital policiesParticipating in quality improvement and quality assurance initiativesAre you ready to bring your expertise to a collaborative, high-performing team? The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners.Does this position require Patient Care?
