Kitchen Assistant at Embassy SuitesEmbassy Suites - Panama City Beach, FLOverviewPosition Type: Full TimeDescriptionJob Summary - The role of Kitchen Assistant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and operations of the dishwashing while ensuring the compliance with all company and department policies.Primary Responsibilities & Essential FunctionsAssisting the Cook with the preparation of meal ingredients, which includes washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, and chopping fruit, vegetables, poultry, and meatProperly cleaning and sanitizing all food preparation areas according to established standards of hygieneWashing and appropriately storing all cooking appliances, instruments, utensils, cutting boards, and dishesSweeping and mopping the kitchen floors as well as wiping down kitchen wallsAssisting with the unloading of delivered food suppliesOrganizing and correctly storing food suppliesPromptly transferring meal ingredients from storage areas to the kitchen as per the Cook's instructionsMaintain a clean and organized cooler with proper labeling methods for its contentsPerforming a weekly deep clean to ensure cleanliness and sanitization of areaRemoving and disposing trashAll other duties as assignedQualificationsEducation and Experience - Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests about job-related needsExperience in kitchen or stewarding preferredProven experience assisting in kitchens preferred but not requiredA food handlers' license/certification (may acquire after employment)Knowledge, Skills, Abilities - Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate in basic English (preferred)Detail-oriented and thorough, consistently performing work to the highest of standardsAbility to remain discreet and respect the privacy of guestsAbility to interact with guests in a pleasant, friendly wayExcellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle several tasks simultaneouslyKnowledge of basic kitchen operations and kitchen equipment, e.g. stove tops, meat slicers etc.Knowledge of food and health safety regulations with the ability to follow food and health safety regulations properly and diligentlyAbility to solve problems independentlyPhysical Demands - Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, stoopingMust be able to lift 50lbsAbility to handle repetitive motions including chopping, stirring, and other food preparations tasksWorking Conditions - IndoorExposure to a fast-paced kitchen environmentExposure to a very noisy environmentExposure to high kitchen temperaturesExposure to sharp and dangerous tools/equipmentThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not an exclusive list of all duties and responsibilities.
