Role Responsibilities Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot. Build secure, reliable, and high-performance RESTful APIs and microservices. Translate business requirements and technical specifications into maintainable software solutions. Develop reusable components, backend services, integrations, and data-processing workflows. Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, quality assurance engineers, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders. Participate in solution design, architecture discussions, sprint planning, code reviews, and technical documentation. Write clean, modular, testable, and well-documented Java code following established engineering standards. Develop applications using Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, and related Spring Framework components. Design and optimize relational database schemas, queries, stored procedures, and data access layers. Integrate applications with internal services, third-party APIs, messaging platforms, and external systems. Implement authentication, authorization, validation, exception handling, logging, and audit controls. Create and maintain unit, integration, API, and automated tests. Troubleshoot application defects and production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes. Improve application scalability, availability, performance, observability, and security. Support continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines. Containerize applications and support deployments across development, testing, staging, and production environments. Monitor applications using logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting tools. Identify technical debt and recommend improvements to architecture, development practices, and engineering tools. Provide technical guidance and constructive feedback to junior engineers when required. Take ownership of assigned features and production issues from initial analysis through deployment and validation. Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field. 3–5 years of professional software development experience. Strong hands-on experience with Java and object-oriented programming. Professional experience developing backend applications using Spring Boot and the Spring Framework. Strong understanding of Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, dependency injection, configuration management, and exception handling. Experience designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices. Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and software engineering principles. Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server. Proficiency in SQL, database schema design, query optimization, and transaction management. Experience using JPA, Hibernate, or another object-relational mapping framework. Experience writing unit and integration tests using tools such as JUnit, Mockito, or Spring Boot Test. Experience with Maven or Gradle for dependency management and application builds. Proficiency with Git and collaborative source-control workflows. Familiarity with API documentation tools such as Swagger or OpenAPI. Experience with authentication and authorization mechanisms such as Spring Security, OAuth 2.0, JWT, or role-based access control. Understanding of exception handling, input validation, secure coding, and application logging. Familiarity with Docker and containerized application deployment. Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within an Agile engineering team. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to deliver production-ready software within defined timelines. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience designing and supporting microservices-based or distributed systems. Experience with Spring Cloud, Spring WebFlux, Spring Batch, or Spring Integration. Experience with event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing. Hands-on experience with messaging or streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Amazon SQS, or ActiveMQ. Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra, or Redis. Experience deploying Java applications to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, API Gateway, and CloudWatch. Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration. Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation. Familiarity with observability tools such as Splunk, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, or ELK Stack. Experience implementing distributed tracing, centralized logging, and application performance monitoring. Understanding of API gateway patterns, service discovery, load balancing, resiliency, and fault tolerance. Experience with caching technologies such as Redis or Hazelcast. Knowledge of concurrency, multithreading, JVM performance, memory management, and application tuning. Experience with SonarQube, static code analysis, vulnerability scanning, and code-quality enforcement. Knowledge of common application security risks and secure software development practices. Experience working in SaaS, fintech, healthcare, e-commerce, enterprise software, or high-volume transactional environments. Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban. Experience mentoring junior engineers or contributing to architecture standards and technical documentation.
