Lead Immigration Attorney
We are a growing immigration law firm seeking a Lead Immigration Attorney to handle high-quality legal work across humanitarian, removal defense, and family-based matters.The goal is simple: You focus on being an excellent lawyer, and we build everything around that.This is a senior, execution-focused role for a lawyer who wants to practice law with depth, focus, and excellence (including case strategy, advocacy, and client consultations) without being pulled into operational distractions.In this role, you will:Appear in immigration courtHandle occasional non-routine advocacy, including in-person appearances before immigration agencies, if neededDraft motions, briefs, and complex legal filingsDevelop legal strategy and make case-specific recommendationsManage cases strategically from intake through resolutionConduct legal consultations for prospective and existing clients as neededWork closely with support staff to ensure filings, deadlines, and court requirements are handled accurately and timelyReview legal work product for quality and accuracyCollaborate with and support junior legal staff as the team growsAnd then, at 5:30 pm, you go home.Home to your family.Home to your hobbies.Home to the rest of your life.Because you won't be worrying about payroll, accounts receivable, marketing, hiring, firing, or operational management. This role is focused on legal execution and case ownership, not firm management or operational leadership.If you take pride in excellent legal work and you want to grow with a firm that is building intentionally and for the long term, we'd love to hear from you.Responsibilities:Provide legal counsel to clients by analyzing their needs and determining a proper course of actionRepresent clients in court to argue motions during legal proceedingsWork closely with and provide leadership to administrative staff concerning client billing, client meetings and invoicing, as well as finalizing client projectsManage administrative assistants, paralegals, and law clerksDetermine case strategies and solutions to serve clients' needs after analysisTypes of Cases You'll Work On (in order of volume):• Asylum, Humanitarian relief (VAWA, U visas, Deferred Action, Military PIP), Removal Defense, Family Petitions, Consular Processing, and Waivers.Legal Drafting & AdvocacyAnalyze cases and develop legal strategies to serve clients' objectivesConduct legal research and draft correspondence, pleadings, motions, and briefsRepresent clients in court to argue motions during legal proceedingsHandle cases strategically and proactively through resolutionCourt RepresentationRepresent clients in immigration court (remotely or in person, as required) for master and individual hearings (Asylum and COR cases only)Must be willing and able to travel when neededServe as primary counsel of record in EOIR matters, with the firm maintaining continuity of representation as neededLegal Development & StrategyIdentify legal risks and case vulnerabilities early and develop strategies to address them proactivelyMonitor immigration law developments, policy changes, and practice advisoriesIncorporate updates into firm procedures, templates, and case strategiesCollaboration & Case ExecutionMaintain clear and timely case documentation, notes, and time records consistent with firm procedures.Work closely with the Case Manager and the administrative team to ensure cases move efficientlyIdentify workflow issues and propose process improvementsParticipate in team meetings to align priorities and production goalsEffectively leverage and delegate to support staff to prioritize high-value legal work, including strategy, advocacy, and consultationsClient Communication & RepresentationConduct legal consultations and evaluate the viability of potential cases, providing clear recommendations to the intake teamProvide clear next steps following consultations to support case conversion and onboardingEngage directly with clients on legal strategy, critical decisions, and case resolution, while support teams manage routine communication and updatesHandle high-level inquiries or escalations requiring attorney involvementMaintain professional and ethical client relationships consistent with firm standardsQualifications:5+ years of immigration law experienceDemonstrated experience handling asylum, humanitarian relief (VAWA, U visas, Military PIP), and removal defense cases, including cancellation of removalStrong working knowledge of family-based petitions, consular processing, and waivers.Proven ability to manage cases independently from legal strategy through final resolutionExcellent legal writing skills, with the ability to draft persuasive motions and briefs beyond standard templatesStrong judgment, accountability, and attention to detail in managing an active caseloadComfortable working collaboratively within a team-based environment, where support staff handle day-to-day communication and administrative functionsWillingness to appear in court (remote or in person) and travel as neededSpanish fluency preferred, but not requiredAbout Company:The mission of The Immigration Force PLLC is to give each client the best odds to win their immigration case.We believe strong legal work and a healthy team culture can coexist.
