Organizes, directs, coordinates and controls the activity of the CDI department. Assesses, develops and implements efficient systems that meet KHN, HFAP and other government regulations. Serves as a liaison between the CDI department and other KHN departments. Manages CDI personnel in daily operational activities. Directs the performance of CDI employees for the purpose of accurate documentation and patient billing. Supports internal and external CDI review and education. Monitors and maintains data on employee compliance with productivity and quality standards and takes appropriate action as needed. Is responsible for the following management functions: hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, training, work distribution and flow and employee engagement. Administers corrective action for areas of responsibilities. Monitors and ensures time and attendance policy for the department. Interacts with the CDI education lead to support CDI quality and education initiatives. Interact with the manager of HIM/Coding to support the program initiatives and strategic planning goals. Promotes good morale and cooperation. Encourages others and values their input. Shares information and seeks ways to add value to the team. Anticipates and responds to changing skills requirements. Seeks opportunities to learn new skills. Actively coaches and encourages team members to do the same. Successfully integrates team into the CDI process to promote their development. Other duties as assigned.Responsibilities & RequirementsEducation:Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Business, Information Systems, or Healthcare related field required.Master's Degree in Nursing, Business, Information Systems, or Healthcare related field preferred.Experience:Strong project leadership and management skills required; ability to prioritize, plan, and handle multiple tasks/demands simultaneously.Strong, verbal, and visual communication skills.Experience evaluating the quality of care trends, utilization data, and developing data study/retrieval tools.Proficient in Microsoft Products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SQL, Power BI, Reporting ServicesSolid experience in data analysis and reporting with the ability to apply statistical techniques.Ability to develop constructive working relationships with physicians, hospital administration, nurses and other healthcare members.Experience with staff development and training.Four to six years' experience with health care data. Knowledge of EPIC preferred.Knowledge of ICD-10 CM and DRG coding classification systems preferred.
