Science Teacher
Position Type: Middle School Teaching/Science Date Posted: 5/22/2026 Location: Western Middle School Date Available: 2026-27 school year Closing Date: Until filled Greenwich Public Schools seeks a full-time science teacher for Western Middle School. Greenwich Public Schools' science curriculum is fully aligned with the Next-Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The ideal candidate will understand the growth and development of the middle school child, and be able to plan and deliver lessons accordingly, helping students learn subject matter and skills that will broaden their learning experiences. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of NGSS and have experience working with middle school-aged students. Responsibilities:Prepares lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroomDemonstrated strong content knowledgeMaintains accurate and complete recordsAssesses student learning on a continual basis and identifies areas of intervention if neededCommunicates student progress with parents through the use of interim reports, report cards, and/or conferencesDesigns instruction to meet the needs of all learnersDesigns and implements assessments that measure progress and uses assessments to refine curriculum and instructional practicesMaintains a positive learning environment that encourages open communication between the teacher and learnerEstablishes and maintains professional relationshipsParticipates in professional learning Knowledge/Skills:Experience working with adolescent childrenExperience with team teaching in a multicultural environmentAbility to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writingEffective, active listening skillsAbility to work effectively with othersOrganizational and problem-solving skillsA sense of humor Qualifications Profile:CT State Certification, or certifiability, in: General Science, Grades 4-8 (#234), General Science, Grades 7-12 (#034), or related certificate required.
