We arelooking for an individual who has great computer skills (proficient with Microsoft Word,Excel, and PowerPoint), is a quick learner and self-starter, highly organized, detail oriented,comfortable with working independently, and able to handle large amounts of informationand data. A perfect candidate would have a master’s degree in urban and regional planning, public administration, public policy, or a related discipline. A background inmunicipal planning and/or local government is required. About the RoleThis position is remote; however, occasional in-person conferences and/or meetings at project venues throughout California will be required. Therefore, the candidate must reside in California (preferably, but not necessarily, in Northern or Central California). Strong communication and presentation skills are essential for this position. Management skills are preferred. The candidate must supply their own computer; although, we will provide the necessary software. While the position is full-time there is great flexibility on when the hours are worked. The position pays $45 per hour, depending on experience, to start, with the potential for raises as compatibility is determined during the probationary period of 6 (six) months. Duties and responsibilities:Support the review and processing of development applications, including research, documentation, coordination, and follow-up. Conduct both high-level and detailed research to support municipal performance reviews, service analyses, governance studies, and related public-sector projects. Perform fast, accurate, and targeted web research to locate, verify, and synthesize information from federal, state, county, city, and special district sources. Review financial documents, budgets, audits, service plans, planning documents, and other materials for counties, cities, and special districts throughout California. Collect, organize, clean, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, service issues, financial conditions, and key findings. Locate and extract relevant information from public data sources, agency records, government websites, meeting materials, financial reports, and planning documents. Prepare clear charts, tables, summaries, and visual materials that make complex information easy to understand. Communicate professionally with county, city, and district staff by email, phone, and in person to request information, clarify data, and coordinate project needs. Participate in public meetings and hearings, present project updates to elected officials and agency representatives, and support client communications. Draft sections of public reports, staff reports, memoranda, and other written materials for municipal performance reviews and related projects. Format, edit, and polish reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other client-ready documents. Create PowerPoint presentations and briefing materials based on reports, research findings, and data analysis. Support a variety of projects involving public-sector research, data analysis, document review, and presentation of findings.
