Individual base pay is determined by experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.Position SummaryThis position is responsible for the design and construction of complex electrical power systems and the analysis of the Cooperative's protection systems in support of the Cooperative's Strategic Initiatives.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCompile and evaluate design and test dataOperate computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks and analysisPrepare technical specifications and analyze technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specificationsPrepare and study technical drawings, test reports and specifications of substation design and operation in order to conform to standards and customer requirementsConfer with engineers, customers and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and productsDirect and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation and project management activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes and customer requirementsDesign, implement, maintain and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products and systems for commercial, industrial and domestic purposesPrepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipmentPerform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction and installation standards and specificationsInvestigate customer or public complaints, determine nature and extent of problem and recommend remedial measuresOversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.Manage the design and construction of large substation projectsPerform a variety of standard engineering computations and analysisPrepare engineering drawings, maps, and construction specificationsResearch material specifications and resolve basic material issuesConduct construction inspectionsCoordinate with consultants, members, developers and government entities on all projectsProvide guidance to other department engineers and staffWrite conceptual design documents for substation projects as assignedUse sound engineering judgement to make decisions regarding changes to project scopeAssist with ordering major equipment and review approval drawings for long lead time materialPerform fault studies and set relays for transformers and feedersComplete assigned tasksMaintain the security of confidential informationStay abreast of advances in technologyDemonstrate regular and prompt attendancePerforms other related duties as necessary or assigned..............Supervisory and/or Leadership ResponsibilitiesNoneKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs such as AutoCAD and ASPEN, entering data or processing informationKnowledge of principles and processes for providing customer serviceKnowledge of Power System materialsKnowledge of NERC PRC standardsKnowledge of substation design and constructionSkilled in time managementSkilled in prioritizing and managing changing prioritiesProficient in reading and understanding schematics and design drawingsAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writingAbility to listen and understand information verbally and in writingAbility to anticipate, identify, analyze and resolve conflict and problems.......Minimum Qualifications - (Education, Experience)Bachelor's degree in a related engineering fieldRegistered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas OREight years of directly related work experience ORSix years of related work experience and a Post Graduate Engineering degree in a related disciplineValid Driver's LicensePhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
