Director of Business DevelopmentThe Director of Business Development will join an internal commercial team in the U.S. and drive growth across pharmacovigilance, regulatory, medical affairs, and post-surveillance services. This role owns the full sales lifecycle, from prospecting and relationship development through to closing complex, high-value deals. The Director will secure new clients, expand services within existing accounts, and help shape strategic sales plans that support long-term revenue growth within a global contract research environment.Responsibilities+ Develop and execute strategic sales plans to grow global pharmacovigilance, regulatory, medical affairs, and post-surveillance services in alignment with company growth objectives.+ Identify, assess, and prioritize new business opportunities across target markets, including small to mid-size biotechnology and pharmaceutical organizations.+ Actively prospect for new clients and expand services with existing accounts to achieve or exceed annual revenue goals.+ Manage the full sales lifecycle, including lead generation, qualification, solution positioning, proposal development, negotiation, and closing of complex, high-value deals.+ Build, nurture, and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers in client and prospect organizations, including safety, regulatory, and medical affairs functions, outsourcing and procurement teams, and C-suite executives.+ Represent the company at key conferences, trade shows, and networking events to promote services, develop relationships, and build brand visibility.+ Gather and analyze market intelligence to monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging client needs, and translate these insights into actionable sales strategies.+ Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand internal business needs, interpret client challenges, and present high-level, responsive solutions that align with operational capabilities.+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date pipeline information from prospecting through contract execution in the company CRM system.+ Manage multiple sales engagements at various stages of the sales cycle while meeting deadlines and revenue targets.+ Deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals, both in person and virtually, tailored to senior management and C-level stakeholders.+ Leverage an established network within the life sciences industry to generate leads, open doors with new accounts, and strengthen strategic partnerships.Essential Skills+ 10+ years of sales or business development experience.+ At least 6 years of experience in global contract research organizations (CROs) selling safety, regulatory, and medical affairs services.+ Proven experience selling pharmacovigilance, drug safety, regulatory, and medical affairs services within the life sciences sector.+ Demonstrated success in outside sales and business development focused on clinical research and CRO services.+ Established network of decision-makers in the life sciences industry, particularly within small to mid-size biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.+ Experience selling to, presenting to, and building relationships with senior management and C-level stakeholders.+ Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of closing complex, multi-million-dollar business.+ Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.+ Ability to understand internal business needs, interpret client business challenges, and present quick and responsive high-level solutions.+ Proven ability to manage multiple sales engagements at different stages of the sales cycle while meeting deadlines.+ Bachelor's degree in Life Science, Biotechnology, or Business Administration.Additional Skills & Qualifications+ Experience supporting clients with outsourcing initiatives involving offshore locations.+ Familiarity with pharmacovigilance, drug safety, clinical research, and regulatory environments.+ Experience working with small to mid-size biotech and pharmaceutical companies.+ MBA or advanced business degree is a plus.+ Experience using CRM tools to manage sales pipelines and forecast revenue.+ Ability to represent the organization effectively at conferences, trade shows, and industry events.+ Strong commercial mindset with the ability to align client needs with service offerings.Work EnvironmentThis is a fully remote position based in the U.S., offering flexibility and autonomy in managing your schedule and territory. You will work from a home office environment while collaborating closely with a distributed internal commercial and operational team. Travel is required for client meetings, conferences, trade shows, and other business development activities as needed.
