Material Handler I

Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated Material Handler I to join our team in Columbus, Nebraska 68601. This is a long-term opportunity spanning over 12 months, featuring a rotating night shift schedule from 6pm to 6am. The rotation follows a bi-weekly pattern: two days on, two days off, and three days on, followed by two days off, two days on, and three days off. The compensation for this role is $22.70 per hour, which includes the shift differential. Please note that applicants must have the physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance. Core Responsibilities Manage customer orders by scanning barcodes, picking items, and applying labels. Execute the picking and packing of various orders. Utilize RF technology to process all order workflows. Ensure your assigned workspace remains organized and compliant with standard operating procedures. Help maintain high standards of quality by following Good Documentation Practices. Complete all necessary training modules to gain proficiency with RF devices. Verify order accuracy and prepare shipments to ensure customers receive correct products. Scan, retrieve, and organize completed orders onto pallets. Re-palletize products to prepare them for final shipment. Manage dock manifest tasks, including scanning pallets and operating the shrink wrapper. Transport inventory throughout the facility using walk-behind MHE. Ensure shipment integrity by verifying accuracy and packaging items correctly. Contribute to a safer workplace by strictly adhering to all operational safety protocols. Perform additional tasks as requested by management. Maintain consistent attendance in accordance with company policy. Keep all C2C training certifications up to date. Support organizational quality objectives through diligent work. Perform all daily activities in a secure manner to help maintain a safe warehouse environment. Promote site security by reporting any suspicious behavior or potential hazards immediately. Report all accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to leadership right away. Uphold a professional appearance by keeping your work area tidy and organized. Follow established facility cleaning guidelines to ensure a pristine environment. Maintain a neat, orderly, and professional workspace at all times. Develop a working knowledge of other warehouse roles to support team flexibility. Provide assistance to other departments as needed. Serve as a reliable backup for team members during absences or scheduled time off. Qualifications Possess a High School diploma, GED, or at least one year of related experience. Prior experience operating a Walkie Ryder motorized pallet jack is preferred. Demonstrate effective verbal communication skills. Show the ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously. Thrive in a fast-paced distribution center setting. Read and interpret various distribution-related documents accurately. Collaborate effectively with team members. Work efficiently with minimal oversight. Operate MHE and Voice/RF scanning equipment as required. Maintain high performance in a metrics-driven work environment. Apply basic analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills to daily tasks. Possess a foundational understanding of distribution operations.
