AP Specialist

Atlas Molded Products is seeking an AP Specialist for the Byron Center, MI facility.AP Specialist Primary Responsibilities Accounts PayableAccurately and efficiently process daily accounts payable transactionsReview all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to paymentCreate and approve new vendors in ERP software, and verify all required documentation is obtained from vendor. Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepanciesAssist with month end accruals for open AP item. Reconciliation of Accounts Payable GL account at month end. Run necessary reports such as open AP aging. Month EndAssist with general month end close processes as directed by managerEnter and post journal entries as directed by managerReconcile balance sheet accounts as directed by managerRequires confidential treatment of cost data, sales information, and financial reports. Responsible for normal care and safeguarding of personal computers, office machines, and software. Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practicesHelps to ensure compliance with all Atlas Roofing Corporation financial policiesComply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations. Responsible for immediate reporting of any activity that is not directed toward or has a negative effect on the facility, division, or corporation’s maximization of profitability. Routinely keeps manager updated on happenings within the plant/(s) they are working withSort and distribute incoming mail as neededAssist with other projects as neededAR duties - may assist or complete AR duties as assigned. Accounts ReceivableAccurately and efficiently process daily customer invoicingWork with customer service, sales representatives, and customers to process creditsAR/AP Specialist ExperienceMinimum of three years’ experience in a computerized accounting environment. Experience in a manufacturing environment with experience in a supervisory capacity helpful. Experience should include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, month-end and year-end closings. AR/AP Specialist Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAnalytical, detail oriented, professional attitude, reliableProficient in Excel and Word, 10-key by touch, PeopleSoft experience a plusPossess strong organizational and time management skillsStrong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skillsThorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate proceduresAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in a professional mannerAbility to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timelinessMinimal travel required AR/AP Specialist Education, Licenses & CertificationsHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. 2-3 years AP experience required. This is an on site position.
