About the role: As Associate Director of Chemistry, you will be instrumental in achieving company objectives through comprehensive research and development. Responsibilities include oversight of Trait’s process chemistry initiatives involved in the purification of Trait molecules, bench-scale through production-scale, as well as analytical chemistry programs. This role is crucial for advancing research and ultimately contributing to the successful commercialization of groundbreaking molecules. The role will blend hands-on and leadership of a small core chemistry team, ensuring successful results delivery, problem-solving, robust and timely execution. You will lead by example—actively contributing to critical experiments, solving complex technical challenges, and ensuring robust, timely, and high-quality results. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Individual involvement and leadership of chemistry and engineering processes involved in molecular separation and purification of Trait molecules, maintaining an active hands-on role in experimental execution and troubleshooting · Optimize process chemistry steps for improving yield, purity, scalability, and overall process efficiency, with a focus on developing robust and manufacturable processes and process efficiency · Contribute to process design, process safety considerations, and scale-up risk assessment· Primary responsibility for technology transfer and scale-up activities from lab to a commercial production environment · Mentor and supervise our analytical chemistry programs, and review data· Maintain detailed, audit-ready documentation to support regulatory filings, technical reports, and intellectual property development · Partner cross-functionally with R&D teams (e.g. fermentation, discovery, science, etc.) About you: You are highly self-motivated and energetic. You thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
