We are seeking an entry-level Associate Engineer to join our growing Municipal Engineering team based in Neptune/Tinton Falls, NJ. This role is ideal for a recent civil engineering graduate who is interested in public-sector work and wants to build a long-term career through hands-on experience, mentorship, and a clear internal growth path.About this roleThis position is part of CME's long-term team growth strategy. As an Associate Engineer, you'll gain exposure to a wide range of municipal engineering disciplines including transportation, water and wastewater, and infrastructure while learning how projects move from planning and review through construction and completion.If you're curious, detail-oriented, and interested in understanding how engineering decisions shape communities, this role offers a strong foundation for your career.ResponsibilitiesMunicipal Review & Technical AnalysisReview site plans, subdivision and land development applications, and capital improvement projects for compliance with municipal ordinances, standards, and regulationsSupport planning board and zoning board reviews by preparing technical comments and reportsCommunicate clearly and professionally with boards, applicants, inspectors, and internal team membersEngineering & Design ExposureAssist with design work on municipal infrastructure projects such as roadway improvements, including preparation of plans and specificationsPerform basic engineering calculations and analysis under the guidance of senior engineersConstruction AdministrationSupport construction-phase activities, including coordination with inspectors and review of field conditionsGain exposure to how projects are implemented and resolved in real-world conditionsTeam Collaboration & DevelopmentWork closely with experienced engineers (including recently licensed PEs) who provide day-to-day guidance and mentorshipParticipate in CME's peer mentor program and professional development initiativesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related fieldEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or scheduled to take the EIT examStrong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort participating in public meetingsInterest in and commitment to municipal engineering workWillingness to work from and commit to the Neptune/Tinton Falls, NJ officePreferred QualificationsInternship or co-op experience in civil or municipal engineeringFamiliarity with municipal infrastructure, transportation, or water/wastewater projectsExperience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar engineering softwareBenefits
