Workday US Payroll Lead
OverviewWe are seeking a Workday US Payroll Lead to drive the Payroll workstream within a Workday implementation. This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for leading payroll design, configuration, and overall delivery.This opportunity is structured as a contract-to-hire, making it a strong fit for experienced payroll consultants who want to stay hands-on in Workday while moving into a role that offers greater stability, continuity, and a more balanced pace.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the Workday US Payroll workstream within an active implementationOwn payroll design and configuration across earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and payroll accountingProvide guidance on U.S. payroll compliance including tax, wage attachments, Common Pay Master, and regulatory considerationsSupport complex requirements including union / CBA environments and retirement plans (e.g., 401k)Facilitate client working sessions to gather, validate, and refine requirementsTranslate business requirements into scalable, maintainable Workday configurationsDrive testing efforts including unit, parallel, and UAT; support defect resolution and issue triageProvide payroll readiness guidance and support go-live preparationCommunicate progress, risks, and key decisions to stakeholders and project leadershipPartner with cross-functional teams including HCM, Benefits, Integrations, and FinanceQualificationsActive Workday US Payroll Certification requiredProven experience leading or supporting Workday US Payroll implementationsDeep understanding of U.S. payroll regulations including tax, garnishments, and Common Pay MasterHands-on experience with payroll accounting, reconciliation, and period closeExperience supporting retirement plans such as 401kExposure to union / collective bargaining environments strongly preferredAbility to operate independently as a workstream leadStrong communication skills with the ability to engage business and technical stakeholdersExperience with Workday Launch, Launch Express, or similar methodologies preferredWelcome to ConsultNet, a premier national provider of technology talent and solutions.
