Apprentice Telecommunications Specialist

Red Cedar TGis seeking a dynamic, proactive, and self-starting Apprentice Telecommunications Specialist to join our team in the greater San Antonio, TX market.ResponsibilitiesInstalls, terminates, labels, tests and troubleshoots voice, data, and fiber optic premise and campus distribution systems including but not limited to Cat6, Cat6e, RG6 coax, and single and multi-mode fiberProvides interior and campus copper and fiber optic cable plant installation support and network hardware installation supportInstalls cable support systems such as cable trays, ladder racks, J-hooks, and D-rings. Builds out, dresses, and locks down racks and patch panelsPerforms work in communications closets, manholes, and handholes as requiredTrenches and install direct buried cable and conduit as requiredAll other work as assignedWorks as team member under supervisionFollows safety practices and effective use of time and material resourcesRequiredAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance at the Secret levelAbility to provide thorough, complete, and concise technical documentationInitiative to remain up-to-date with industry trendsCapacity to make quick decisions when faced with issues like outages or backupsOccasionally lift heavy objects, ability to climb ladders and work in confined spacesMust be able to identify the colors inside copper telecommunication cablesExceptional diagnostic and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsWillingness to travel in/out of work state and work on the weekendsValid driver's licenseDesiredBICSI Installer 1 (INST1) certificationExperience installing, splicing, and terminating fiber and copper cableExperience installing, splicing, and terminating specifically Duraline fiber optic cable a plusExperience installing, splicing, and terminating specifically CommScope materialsCable experience in hospitals and/or military base/postExperience using trenching equipmentIdeal candidate has experience with federal/government environment as a contractor or enlisted/civil serviceAbout Red Cedar TGHeadquartered in New Braunfels, TX, Red Cedar TG is focused on delivering enterprise application architecture, project management, and telecommunications solutions to federal, state, local government, and commercial clients.
