This organization designs and produces accessibility and electromechanical products while supporting a diverse range of manufacturing services.In this role, you will play a central part in developing electronic control systems-from concept and design through to final production-supporting both new product development initiatives and enhancements to long-standing, field-proven products.You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and manufacturing engineers, to deliver cohesive electromechanical solutions. This role operates within a highly collaborative environment and supports internally developed products across multiple divisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronic circuit design, schematic and PCB layout, and proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar.This is an opportunity to contribute to both evolving product designs and established systems, with a focus on practical engineering, reliability, and long-term product sustainability.Why This Role Stands OutImmediate impact - support both next-generation redesign initiatives and existing product linesSpecialized hardware focus - strong emphasis on PCB design, control systems, and hands-on troubleshootingMeaningful technical challenges - work on high-current applications, motor control systems, and component obsolescence in long-life productsLean team, high ownership - collaborate closely with a small, experienced engineering groupLocation advantage - strong opportunity for engineers looking to reduce long commutes while staying technically hands-onWhat You'll DoDesign and develop electronic circuits and systems for safe, reliable control of manufactured products, with a focus on control modules used in electromechanical systemsCreate, test, and validate prototypes, including component selection and design-for-manufacturability decisions, with consideration for long-term component availabilityDevelop and execute test methods and equipment to verify performance, safety, and compliance, including custom test fixtures for board-level and system-level validationLead or contribute to PCB design activities including schematic capture, layout, and troubleshooting of printed circuit boards used in embedded control systemsSupport new product development efforts and ongoing maintenance and improvement of legacy systemsTroubleshoot and resolve circuit performance issues, including high current applications and transient voltage conditionsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of electronic systems with mechanical assemblies, wiring, and harnessingParticipate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement across product lines and engineering processesEvaluate and select components with an emphasis on availability, reliability, and long-term sustainability to minimize obsolescence riskSupport documentation updates, revisions, and engineering change processes in coordination with CAD and manufacturing teamsInterface with manufacturing and production teams to support product launches, testing, and ongoing product supportWhat You'll BringHands-on experience with embedded electronics, communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C), and electronic test equipmentExperience working with control systems for electromechanical applications; motor control experience is a strong plus5+ years of professional experience designing electronic hardware (degree in EE or equivalent experience)Strong proficiency in schematic/PCB design and mechanical integration (ALTIUM, SolidWorks or equivalent); flexibility on tools if core PCB design experience is strongExperience designing, troubleshooting, and maintaining printed circuit boards in real-world applications, including legacy systemsFamiliarity with wiring, cable routing, and harness design as part of broader electrical system integrationExposure to firmware or embedded software environments (not required, but helpful for system-level understanding)Ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative engineering environmentStrong problem-solving skills, particularly in diagnosing and resolving issues in electromechanical systemsExperience working with long product lifecycles and designing for maintainability and component longevityPractical, hands-on engineering mindset with the ability to balance design, testing, and real-world constraintsCompensation depends on experience but is typically $100-125K; however, we are willing to send qualified candidates over-budget.
