Summary
The Specimen Processor/Data Entry employee is responsible for processing, ordering, and data entry of all specimens, as well as any other clerical duties as needed. This role will also require some time in the field as a mobile phlebotomist.
Essential Functions

Receive and open sample boxes from courier services.
Sort samples by specimen type for aliquoting trays.
Aliquot each specimen using proper technique.
Data entry all required fields from requisition.
File and maintain requisitions.
Communicate to managerial staff any work-related incidents and personnel issues that may arise.
Be open to all changes within the continuously evolving department.
Be able to adjust days/shift as needed.
Follow any directives given by the supervisor.
Keep work area clean and organized at all times.
Will greet and properly identify patients and verify test orders.
Will follow instructions to correctly perform venipunctures, while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality.
Maintain a safe work environment for his or herself and the patients by following all safety precautions outlined in the Procedure Manual, which includes wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
Will properly label, centrifuge when needed, aliquot, store, and transport all samples according to the Procedure Manual. Verify all requisition forms are completed with the required information.
Immediately clean and disinfect area upon contamination and before leaving the facility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office and laboratory environment. This role routinely has direct contact with caustic chemicals.

Education and Experience
High School Diploma
Phlebotomy Certificate
Good organizational skills
Ability to maintain a friendly and courteous rapport with office staff
Ability to maintain attention to detail
The Compass processor will ONLY perform work for Compass Laboratory Services.
