This is a critical hire. You will be the primary technical and project lead on complexremediation engagements — large Phase IIs, brownfield redevelopment, LSRP/risk-basedclosure, and similar high-complexity projects — while helping build the operational foundationfor a growing practice line.This is a player-coach role. You will be hands-on technically, client-facing, and instrumental indeveloping junior staff. You will work closely with ATON's founding technical leadership during adeliberate knowledge transition and will be expected to grow into expanded leadershipresponsibility as the practice scales.If you are a strong technical PM who is ready to step into a higher-impact, higher-visibility role ata company that is building something special— not managing the status quo — this is youropportunity.What You'll DoProject LeadershipOwn project delivery on large, complex remediation projects from scoping through closure — on time, on budget, and at the quality ATON clients expectServe as primary technical authority on remediation strategy, site characterization, and risk-based decision makingManage project scopes, schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and field crewsMaintain proactive communication with clients, regulators, and project stakeholdersProduce and provide QC on technical deliverables including work plans, reports, and regulatory submissionsClient DevelopmentCultivate and grow client relationships within your practice lineParticipate in business development including proposal development, client meetings, and networkingIdentify and communicate cross-selling opportunities across ATON's service lines (Due Diligence, Compliance, Contracting)Team DevelopmentMentor and develop junior project staff — PMs, staff scientists, and field techniciansBuild standardized workflows, templates, and SOPs for the Remediation practiceCollaborate closely with ATON's technical leadership on complex project strategy and regulatory approachWhat You BringRequired10+ years of progressively complex experience in environmental consulting with a focus on remediationDemonstrated ability to independently manage complex remediation projects — brownfield redevelopment, large Phase II investigations, LSRP or equivalent risk-based closure programsStrong understanding of federal and state regulatory frameworks including with IEPA, MDNR, and/or other Midwest regulatory agenciesExisting relationships with federal, state, and local regulators in Missouri and/or IllinoisExperience managing project scopes, schedules, budgets, WIP, and financialsA track record of client retention and relationship developmentBS in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or related fieldPreferredProfessional registration or active pursuit of same (PE, PG, or equivalent)Experience with Illinois or Missouri voluntary cleanup / brownfield program structuresBrownfield grant program experience (USEPA, HUD, or state programs)Experience supporting or leading business development effortsPrior experience mentoring or managing technical staffWhy ATONOpportunity to be a foundational leader in a growing, acquisition-oriented firm — not just another PM in a large orgAutonomy to manage your projects and your client relationships the right wayClear path to Director-level responsibility as the Remediation practice scalesCulture that invests in people, values accountability, and actually means itCollaborative team that does exceptional work and knows how to have fun
