2nd Shift Furniture Builder
Job Summary This is a physically demanding, fast‑paced job involving independent or team‑based work to hand‑build quality upholstered furniture. The role requires standing for long periods, lifting and moving at least 50 lbs, and using hands to grip, pull, and handle materials. It includes comfort with power tools, framing, and staple guns. Shift is Monday‑Friday 4PM‑2:30AM with mandatory overtime on Fridays. Starting wage is $16.50 and will increase with production speed.
Job Responsibilities Work in a team atmosphere
Perform any position within the cell as needed
Proper use of Kan Ban containers
Upholster Knock down all sharp corners of frame
Use staple gun, hammer, and staple puller as required
Use additional air tools (drill, hog ring gun, hot glue gun, etc.)
Assemble furniture components by upholstery notes within specifications
Frame Use frame gun to staple materials
Apply glue or wax per specification
Use additional air tools (drill, crimping gun, chisel tool, etc.)
Use glue scraper for cleanup
Cushion Process Validate unit cover to ticket in each batch
Coordinate workflow in cell
Insert stuffing materials and use machine to seal and quilt
Staple materials as needed
Final Assembly Assemble components into completed unit
Staple materials and use air tools as required
Oil mechanism per specification
Scan ticket to show unit complete
Packaging Use staple gun and air tools for packaging
Use banding and up‑ender equipment
Apply ticket to finished package in proper location
Move unit to alternate location as needed
Job Requirements Equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the duties
Basic reading and writing skills
Completion of in‑house training curriculum
Basic computer skills
Strong coordination for routine, repetitive tasks
Capacity to stand up to 10 hours per day with frequent bending, twisting, and reaching
Ability to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs
Skilled use of hands for gripping, pulling, and tugging
