Director of Finance – Multi-Company OperationsPosition Overview We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to oversee the financial operations of multiple companies within our organization, including an aggregate trucking company, commodity hauling company, and equipment rental company. This leadership role will be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, accounting oversight, and consolidated multi-company financial management.The ideal candidate must have extensive experience with QuickBooks Online, multi-entity accounting, and consolidated financial reporting. Experience within trucking, construction, aggregate, transportation, or heavy equipment industries is strongly preferred.ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership & Strategy Oversee all financial operations across multiple companies and divisionsPrepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsDevelop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projectionsProvide financial insight and recommendations to ownership and leadership teamsMonitor company financial performance and identify opportunities for growth and efficiencyAssist with strategic planning, financing, and operational decision-makingAccounting & Financial Management Manage general ledger activity, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processesOversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and banking relationshipsEnsure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standardsMaintain internal controls and financial procedures across all entitiesCoordinate with outside CPAs, auditors, lenders, and tax professionalsMulti-Company & Consolidated Financial Reporting Prepare and manage consolidated financial statements across multiple operating companiesHandle intercompany transactions, allocations, and reconciliationsMaintain accurate reporting structures for multiple entities and divisionsAnalyze profitability by company, division, and operational segmentSupport ownership with financial reporting and performance analysis across all businessesQuickBooks Online Management Maintain and oversee all QuickBooks Online company files and accounting systemsDevelop and improve accounting workflows and reporting structures within QuickBooks OnlineManage classes, divisions, locations, and custom reporting functionsEnsure consistency and accuracy across all entities within QuickBooks OnlineTrain and assist staff on accounting procedures and system processes as neededCompliance & Operational Support Assist with operational compliance related to trucking, equipment, and transportation industriesSupport audits, insurance reporting, tax filings, and lender reporting requirementsWork closely with HR, operations, and management teams to improve financial efficiencyMaintain confidentiality and professionalism with sensitive financial informationQualificationsRequired Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferredMinimum 5+ years of accounting or finance leadership experienceExtensive QuickBooks Online experience requiredStrong experience managing multiple companies and consolidated financial reportingExperience with trucking, aggregate, transportation, construction, agriculture, or equipment industries preferred but not requiredStrong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and cash flow managementExperience working with outside auditors, CPAs, and financial institutionsSkills & Abilities Strong leadership and organizational skillsHigh attention to detail and analytical abilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities and companies simultaneouslyAdvanced Excel and financial reporting skillsStrong communication and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work independently and as part of a leadership teamPreferred Qualifications CPA designation is a plus but not requiredExperience with equipment costing, job costing, and operational reportingExperience with financing, lending relationships, and capital planningFamiliarity with payroll systems and HR coordination
