Head of Investor Relations (VP/Principal) - Private Equity Firm

The FirmOur client is a lower middle market Private Equity firm based in Los Angeles, CA.Position OverviewOur client is seeking a Vice President or Principal-level Investor Relations professional to build and lead the firm’s investor relations function. This individual will serve as the primary internal owner of LP communications, fundraising execution, investor servicing, and relationship management, working closely with the Partners and senior leadership team.This is a high-impact opportunity for an entrepreneurial professional who thrives in lean, high-performing environments and wants to build best-in-class infrastructure within a growing private equity platform. The successful candidate will operate as a strategic partner to the firm’s leadership team while also remaining hands-on across fundraising processes, investor communications, and day-to-day LP engagement.Key ResponsibilitiesInvestor Relations & LP CoverageServe as the day-to-day relationship manager for existing and prospective Limited Partners. Develop and deepen institutional investor relationships across pensions, endowments, foundations, family offices, consultants, and fund-of-funds. Coordinate senior management interactions with LPs, including meeting prep, follow-up, and ongoing engagement strategy. Manage inbound investor requests and ensure timely, accurate responses in coordination with Finance, Legal, and Compliance. Help educate internal investment professionals regarding investor sentiment, priorities, and market feedback. Fundraising & Capital FormationSupport all fundraising initiatives across flagship funds, continuation vehicles, co-investments, and other strategic products. Own select investor relationships throughout active fundraising cycles. Coordinate diligence processes, data room management, subscription workflows, and fundraising timelines. Manage communications with outside counsel and internal stakeholders during fundraising processes. Maintain CRM discipline, pipeline reporting, and investor activity tracking. Communications & Marketing MaterialsLead development of quarterly letters, annual meeting materials, presentations, DDQs, RFPs, and firm overview materials. Ensure consistency and quality of firm messaging across all investor-facing materials. Develop communication strategies that strengthen LP engagement and enhance the firm’s market presence. Translate complex portfolio company performance and investment strategy into clear, compelling narratives. Investor Events & GovernanceCoordinate annual meetings, webinars, LP events, roadshows, and conference participation. Manage Limited Partner Advisory Board processes, including materials, calls, approvals, and ongoing communications. Develop travel plans and meeting schedules for fundraising and relationship coverage. Strategic InitiativesConduct market intelligence on investors, peer firms, fundraising trends, and industry best practices. Build scalable IR processes, reporting frameworks, and operating infrastructure appropriate for a growing platform. Partner with firm leadership on long-term capital strategy and investor experience initiatives. Qualifications6–15 years of relevant experience in investor relations, capital formation, fundraising, or institutional client coverage within private equity, alternative assets, or adjacent asset management environments. Prior private equity experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated success managing institutional investor relationships and supporting fundraising processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong executive presence. Ability to independently create polished presentations and investor materials. Strong project management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Commercial mindset with the ability to operate strategically while executing tactically. High EQ, collaborative style, and comfort working in an entrepreneurial environment. Bachelor’s degree required; MBA and/or CFA preferred.
