* Students attending *Central Connecticut State University (CCSU)* and *Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU)* can receive *three academic credits toward a 300-level CS course*.
* For students attending *UConn* and *Quinnipiac*, this position qualifies as a *full internship experience for Computer Science students*.

theCoderSchool is an after-school drop-off program where kids learn to code in a fun and engaging environment.

*Job Summary*
As a *Code Coach*, you will mentor incredible students, teach them how to code, and help them learn to think like programmers.
You will be part of a supportive and enthusiastic team of instructors who love technology and teaching.
This is a *part-time position* ranging from *6–15 hours per week*, depending on your availability. Most schedules are *consistent weekly time slots*.
*Responsibilities*
A *Code Coach (Coding Tutor)* is a mentor who teaches kids how to code.
At theCoderSchool we offer two main teaching styles, and your assignment may vary based on your schedule, skills, and interests.
*Code Coaching (1:1 or 2:1 Lessons)*
* Personalized coding lessons with one or two students at a time
* Younger students typically learn *Scratch or Snap*
* Older students often work in *Python, JavaScript, or other languages such as Java or C++*
* Students often build games, apps, or projects based on their interests
* Lessons may follow curriculum or be customized based on the student
Creativity and personalization are strongly encouraged.
*Code Classes*
* Small group classes following a structured curriculum
* Focused primarily on *block-based coding and Python*
* Small class ratios (typically *4:1 or 5:1 students per coach*)

* Mentor and inspire amazing students who may become the next generation of programmers
* Collaborate with fellow Code Coaches who are passionate about technology
* Give back to the community by helping young students build valuable tech skills
* Teach the technologies you enjoy while also learning new platforms and languages
*RequirementsPassion*
Passion is essential. This role is about inspiring and supporting kids while sharing your love of technology.
*Communication Skills*
You must be a strong communicator and comfortable speaking with both students and parents. Patience and positivity are key when working with children.
*Education / Experience*
College Code Coaches should be pursuing a degree in:
* Computer Science
* Engineering
* Or a related technical field
Veteran Code Coaches may also qualify with relevant industry experience.
*Coding Skills*
General familiarity with programming is expected. Helpful languages include:
* *Python (required)*
* Block-based coding (Scratch)
* JavaScript
* HTML/CSS
* Java
* Roblox (Lua)
* Minecraft (block coding)
You must:
* Know *basic Python*
* Be willing to learn *advanced Python*
* Be willing to learn *block-based coding (Scratch)*
*Unity experience is a bonus.*
Deep expertise is not required. We value coaches who can *problem solve and learn alongside students.*
*Teaching Experience*
Experience teaching or mentoring kids in any subject is a plus.
*Work Authorization*
Candidates must be *legally authorized to work in the United States*. We do not sponsor visas.

*Summer Positions*
theCoderSchool runs *full-day summer camps* from *9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday*.
* Summer positions are approximately *30 hours per week*
* Camps run *mid-June through mid-August*
* The summer interview process begins in *March*
