We will be manufacturing for plant engineering and cryogenic piping systems here in the near future.Position SummaryDepartment: OperationsReports To: Operations ManagerLocation: Loxley, Alabama, USAFLSA Status: Non-ExemptJob Type: Full-TimeShift: Monday - Thursday, 6:00 am - 4:30 pm (overtime as needed on Friday & Saturday)The Class 2 Welder is responsible for welding and fitting stainless steel components as part of a collaborative production team. This role supports the fabrication and assembly of high-quality piping systems and metal weldments to meet customer and BUTTING's standards.The ideal candidate is able to read blueprints, perform precise fit-up and welding, and work efficiently to meet production demands while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality. This position requires dependability, attention to detail, and the ability to work on multiple projects in a team-orientedResponsibilitiesSet up, operate, and maintain welding equipmentPerform inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards and specificationsApply all applicable safety regulations and PPE requirementsMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work areaOperate hand tools, shop machinery, and a hydraulic brake pressDemonstrate excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skillsMaintain a strong understanding of quality systems and regulatory complianceQualifications5-8 years of welding and layout experience requiredExtensive TIG welding experience is essential, with a strong focus on stainless steel applicationsExperience with pipe welding, including fit-up and welding techniques, is strongly preferredTechnical diploma or associate degree in Welding Technology or a related field preferred; high school diploma or equivalent requiredAWS or ASME welding certifications preferred, or the ability to obtain themAbility to read and interpret complex blueprintsWorking knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety complianceExperience with non-destructive testing methods (visual inspection, dye penetrant testing, X-ray)Familiarity with applicable welding and material standards (AWS, ASME) and MTR verificationStrong communication and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systemsBenefitsYou can look forward to a position in a family-run, financially stable company now in its seventh generation, with strong prospects for the future.
