Cable Installation Technician

The Cable tech I is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and testing of structured cabling systems and related equipment. This role supports project execution by ensuring quality installations, troubleshooting issues, and assisting with team coordination.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall work area outlets for floors, modular furniture, and wallsTerminate CAT3, CAT5, and CAT6 jacksProperly mount faceplates and surface mount boxesPerform cable pulls and support structured cabling installationsInstall and mount backboards, racks, cross-connects, and patch panelsInstall fiber optic hardware and associated equipmentEnsure proper grounding of racks, equipment, and cablingComplete all IDC terminations (110/66 blocks and patch panels)Perform continuity testing on horizontal and riser cablesUse testing tools such as a volt-ohmmeter and tone setIdentify and resolve cabling issues including opens, shorts, crossed, and transposed pairsIdentify active voice and data circuits Qualifications Experience with structured cabling systemsKnowledge of CAT3, CAT5, and CAT6 installationsProficiency with cable termination and punch-down techniquesFamiliarity with telecommunications and low-voltage systemsData center experience Physical RequirementsAbility to work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spacesLift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 poundsAbility to distinguish colors and read small printAbility to hear and recognize audible signalsWillingness to travel within assigned territoryCore CompetenciesStrong problem-solving and critical thinking skillsEffective communication (written and verbal)Self-motivated with a professional attitudeAbility to contribute to process improvements and team successWork ExpectationsRegular and reliable attendance is requiredMust be able to maintain a positive, team-focused approachAbility to represent the organization professionally with clients and partners Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, TX. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
