Wildland Firefighter (Fuels) As a Wildland Firefighter (Fuels) your duties will include but are not limited to the following:Performs fuels management activities and functions at the unit/tribal level to include prescribed fire, mechanical and biological fuels treatments, and monitoring (fire effects, fuels and smoke).Monitors treatment effectiveness, identifies potential problems, and makes recommendations.Conducts routine field reconnaissance of prescribed fire/fuels treatment units, summarizes field findings and is responsible for the fuels treatment record keeping.Utilizes a database to model and analyze fire behavior and fire effects observation data.Conducts surveys and evaluates data to develop fuels treatments, and prescriptions for prescribed fire and wildland fire monitoring.Coordinates and implements the technical and administrative aspects of the prescribed fire/fuels plan, ensuring that preparation, ignition, holding, mop-up, and rehabilitation are completed to the specified standards.Ensures the smoke management program complies with state air quality standards.
